Sensitization of the community
The Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission Society, (ASRLMS) and Mushroom Development Foundation (MDF) have come together in a unique initiative of training and capacity building of 200 SHG members from Dimoria and Chandrapur Blocks to produce Mushroom and develop a value chain linking the farmer producers to the end consumers directly. The project is name as “Sustainable Livelihood Model for SHG members under ASRLMS for Mushroom Cultivation” as a pilot project to initiate an innovative model for scale towards achieving sustainable livelihood among the SHG Members.
For the selection of the two hundred (200) farmers with registration on to a SHG of the particular block, first approach has been done to the Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission’s Block office of our selected areas (Dimoria and Chandrapur Block). Meetings have been conducted with Block Project Manager, Block Coordinator, Community Resource Person, Village Organization’s President and Secretary of the respective blocks in order to organize meetings with various SHGs with interest and need. Secondary source of data has been collected in the form of CRP(Community Resource Person) list and VO (Village Organisation) list from the both Block Development Offices, i.e. Dimoria and Chandrapur Block, resulting in various meetings with the SHG members belonging to respective VOs. The selection of the ASRLMS SHG members was done based on an application format determining their probable status of fulfilling the important criteria required to be a part of the project in a participatory manner.
